Do One Thing #14

987820_world_map-w100-h100Question what you think and look at the assumptions you make about yourself, other people and the whole world.

Why? Because we see the world not the way it is, but the way we are. Once we begin to learn to unlearn, start to listen, and then think for ourselves, we can unpeel the illusory way we perceive the world and free oursleves from the limitations of our own perspective.

Do One Thing #13

813780_thumbs_up-w100-h100Say yes and be open to new opportunities. Learn a new skill, call a good friend or take a moment to reflect on all you have.

Why? Because life is rich if you cherish what you touch, love where you tread, embrace and delight in the person you are with.

*'Daring To Be A Teacher' - Robin Richardson 1989

Do One Thing #12

1014560_salad-w100-h100Cook a dish from another country and welcome new ingredients into your kitchen.

Why? Because you can explore the world one dish at a time. In fact many of our best loved meals have their roots in other countries. And, as Martin Luther King said, 'before you finish eating breakfast in the morning, you've depended on more than half the world'.

Do One Thing #11

485928_spanish_handbook-w100-h100Learn to say a few words in another language and open up a world of opportunity, possibility and chance encounters.

Why? Because there are over 300 languages spoken in London alone which means that at least ten are spoken on your own street. If you learn 'how are you today?' in Bosnian you open yourself up to making a potential 5000 new friends in the UK. Start today: Hello in Arabic is - Mar Ha Ba and in Mandarin it is - Ni Hao.

Do One thing #7

do_one_thing_bottleReduce waste and refill your water bottle, buy a handy stainless steel flask or a hard plastic bottle which is chemical free.

Why? Bottled water and its many processes can have negative effects on the land, local communities and the environment. Many studies suggest that the health benefits it contains are no better than tap water. It is better to buy your own water filter so you know it's purified while saying no to more plastic.

Do One thing #5

do_one_thing_saladGrow salad in your window box in a sunny spot and eat fresh greens through the warmer months this year.

Why? Because pre-washed bagged salad gives the appearance of health and hygiene but is likely to have been washed in chlorine, have reduced nutritional value and contain chemicals and pesticides through intensive growing methods.

Do One Thing #4
do_one_thing_clingfilmSwap cling film for paper wraps, empty bread bags or clean cloths to transport your sandwiches each day or better still, invest in a good old lunch box.

Why? Because cling film is harmful to the environment and wildlife: it has an unfriendly manufacturing process and takes hundreds of years to break down, once dumped in landfill sites.

1280089_noise_galaxy-w100-h100 Never stop asking unanswerable questions

Why? Well exactly, ask why. Because unfolding is endless. A millenium doesn't finish, nor does a culture, nor a life, nor a love, nor a lesson. Everything everything everything is always unfini...

*'Daring to be a teacher' - Robin Richardson 1989

medium_bag_for_life_sBanish plastic bags from your life and invest in a couple of stylish, handy cotton totes.

Why? The numbers are quite shocking. The whole world uses up to 1,000,000,000,000 every year - that's one trillion. Not only that but each bag takes up to 1,000 years to break down. What a waste!
