Linking Brighton with the world During 2009, the BPEC education team delivered training for teachers to support best practice in International school partnerships. This has been in partnership with Brighton & Hove City Council's (BHCC) International Officer, who can also support schools with international links with the city. We support practice which incorporates the global dimension in schools international work and is valuable in gaining the International Schools award. A national conference 'Leading World Learning' was delivered in June 2009 at Hove Park School with around 80 participants from across the South East. The global dimension was a core part of the conference, with a number of workshops delivered by BPEC's team and partners. A programme of training days developed last year connected those schools who were seeking new school partnerships or improving existing partnerships. The training days were well received and attending teachers are keen to form a continued network for support and advice. Teachers comments: “Challenged my original ideas that I came to the session with regarding linking. It's been a fabulous session.“ “Very useful opportunity to think about equitable partnerships, and how these might look.” “Extremely interesting and informative day.” Please get in touch with Ruth England, BPEC Schools Coordinator if you are interested in attending a training day on International school partnerships. |
