25 years! Hard to believe that BPEC is still here after 25 years, having gone through ups and downs and moving to different locations around Brighton.

I think this can be only explained by the dedication and commitment of the various volunteers and supporters involved with BPEC over the years. So it is really time to say a big ‘thank you’ to all of you who have shaped BPEC and have made it an institution in Brighton & Hove!

Although the focus of BPEC’s work has shifted from a campaigning to an educational organisation, it has never lost its aim: to change our world and make it a peaceful, sustainable and fair place.

It is probably the small things that show me that we are fufiling our mission: Last week a child from our Green Detectives Club wrote a beautiful poem about the importance of saving the planet and I just had to think of the proverb: If a lot of small people in a lot of small place make a lot of small steps, they can change the face of the planet.

To continue with the steps in the right direction,a new Centre Coordinator has been appointed as I have taken over the role of Education Coordinator for the schools programme. Aisha will start at the end of July and we are all looking forward to welcoming her as part of the team.

In Peace,
Mareike.
