How to become a member of BPEC

We are a membership organisation, and without our members and volunteers we could not carry on! So support BPEC and become a member!

Types of Membership

Membership is open to individuals, organisations and educational institutions such as schools.

Membership prices from 1st November 2006:

Yearly

  • Individual membership costs £12.00 unwaged / £24.00
  • Organisation membership costs £30.00
  • Educational Institutions can join as Development Education members for a fee of £30.00

Please complete the attached form and submit by post or in-person with your cheque made out to 'BPEC' or completed standing order or credit/debit card details. Complete the amount you would like to give in support of BPEC each month or per year.

If you cannot afford monthly support individuals can pay a yearly fee of £24 waged, £12 unwaged and £30 for organisations. You will then receive a membership card entitling you to use of the centre and its services.

Additional Benefits of Organisation Membership

  • As a member organisation of BPEC you can use our resource centre to put together your campaigns and do research.
  • Therefore you have access to and can borrow from our library that contains more than 2000 books about peace, human rights, environment and social issues.
  • If you want to do further research or just check your email, you can use our Internet access for free.
  • Furthermore we offer our member organisations a storage place for files and documents (hard copy and on computer) and an extra phone at very reasonable rates.
  • There is a meeting room for about 20 people at the Centre, ideal for group meetings, workshops and training, which can be rented by our member organisations for a reduced rate.
  • All our office and meeting space has full disability access. This fact is especially important by the new law on disabled access. We help you to provide an ideal space for a meeting or an interview with disabled members or clients.
  • There are tea and coffee facilities to make your meeting less dry!
  • We can support your campaigns and activities by disseminating information through our mailing lists and display space. You can publish articles in our newsletter and on our website. (NB. All campaigns at the centre and displays must first be agreed with BPEC staff, who retain the right to refuse an issue if it conflicts with or compromises the values or interests of the centre and its other members)
  • As a member you have the opportunity to put on awareness months in our information centre focusing on your group or campaign. For this you can use our display space, media and workshop space, we can highlight relevant books from the library etc. (NB. All campaigns at the centre and displays must first be agreed with BPEC staff, who retain the right to refuse an issue if it conflicts with or compromises the values or interests of the centre and its other members)
  • To keep you up to date with what is going on at BPEC you will receive a quarterly newsletter and monthly updates via email.
  • There will be special events for members such as speakers on issues and the opportunity for member organisations to learn about each other, network and support each others work.
  • And most important your organisation gets the right to vote in our AGM to determine the centre's development and management!
  • In addition, Development Education members can access teaching packs, artefacts, musical instruments, games, textiles and toys for use with their school curriculum.

Price List (Members / Non-Members)

  • Internet access - FREE / £1 per hour
  • Meeting room - £5 per hour, minimum £10 per hour / minimum £20
  • Printing - 10p per printed sheet ** / Not available
  • Photocopying - A4 5p, A3 10p / Not available

** Double sided printing: 7p/print. If you reuse paper, i.e. paper already printed on: 5p/print
