3rd Age @ BPEC 2006

Unfortunately this project is finished. If you would like to book a workshop, please call us under 01273 766611.

The 3rdAge@BPEC project is about helping older people in the Brighton & Hove area to get involved in their communities and to engage in issues that matter to them. We aim:

  • To combat the isolation and lack of access that many older people experience
  • To help older people feel informed and empowered
  • To give them the opportunity to engage actively in existing campaigns, and to develop their own initiatives
  • To promote sustainable living by teaching practises (such as recycling) to older people, who can then communicate these practises to their families

We will be holding workshops at older people's clubs and centres, on topics including:

  • Energy use: tackling fuel poverty, reducing unnecessary energy consumption, and choosing renewable energy sources
  • The natural environment: the issue of biodiversity, and making better use of local green spaces such as the Downs and local parks
  • Waste and recycling: how to reduce waste by avoiding overpackaged products, composting food waste etc

For more information, email info@bpec.org

Brighton & Hove City Council has provided funding for the project, in order that the workshops can address environmental and sustainability issues. Workshops addressing social justice and peace issues are also funded by Awards for All.
