Development Education

 

Do you want to add a global dimension to learning in your school? Do you want your pupils to understand how social, political and environmental forces shape the lives of people around the world? Do you want to promote creativity and critical thinking? Development education covers all of these and more. Brighton Peace and Environment Centre is a member of the Development Education Association: a group of organisations nationwide which promote development education, helping teachers to bring the global dimension to their classrooms. As a Development Education Centre, BPEC promotes peace, social justice, sustainable development and environmental conservation through education. We provide:

  • Teacher training both locally and nationally
  • Support on development education issues
  • Access to our library with a large number of teaching aids, including curriculum support packs and resource boxes
  • Subject-focused support networks for teachers
  • A termly newsletter and electronic updates
