MoD blocks wind farms
How many times must the cannon balls fly? The answer from the Ministry of Defence is always "as many times as we can arrange", but as to what is blowing in the wind, it won't be providing green energy if the MoD has anything to do with it.
Blocked
The MoD has put a block on wind farms and turbines within 40 miles of their installations. This has effectively put a quarter of the UK's coastline out of bounds for use in collecting wind power.
Spying
The boys and girls from the ministry have got the wind up, so to speak. They say wind turbines will interfere with their spying electronic gadgets. We say we need wind power, not the military.
NIMBYs
The MOD are not the only ones who have been blocking the introduction of wind power. The dreaded NIMBYs have struck recently on the Isle of Wight. Why the government should kow-tow to them is a mystery. But they have, abandoning a plan for a wind farm on the coast.
Paradox
These anti-social dimwits can't make up their minds. In Regency times, Brighton’s rich folk demanded that the windmills that lined the coast near the town be moved further up the Downs, because they thought they were ugly. The same people who today are blocking new windmills would probably be the first to support preservation orders for the older ones that their great-great-grandparents objected to.
