If economic growth continues unsustainably, the South East will face increasing problems: congestion, poor air quality, and water shortages.
The South East Plan [1], soon to be in public consultation, will set out changes needed to improve the quality of life in the South East. It will cover key topics such as economic growth, housing and environmental issues. SEFS [2] is calling out to member groups and individuals to contribute to the public consultation.

A SEFS team is providing information to members about the consultation process, and how to get involved once the plan is published.

• Housing SEFS is supporting lower housing numbers as well as calling for affordable housing and sustainable communities. Groups such as the WWF, the RSPB and CPRE have been looking at the issues of sustainable and affordable housing, and have proposed their own approaches and reports.
• Transport This year, SEFS will be looking at the key themes of climate change, real communities and social inclusion, and examining the link between economy, transport and the environment with the aim of achieving sustainable living. These themes will also be considered in SEFS' review of the impact of the Railways Bill.
