- Can we reach them and are they the right ones ? Talk by Prof. Jim Skea OBE We are delighted that Professor Jim Skea - one of the UK's leading authorities on climate change, energy and the environment - will be joining us for the inaugural event in BPEC's 30th birthday lecture series to help answer these questions and more. Professor Skea will outline the thinking behind the UK's climate change targets, which are the first of their kind anywhere in the world, and will set out what we will have to do to reach them.
As one of the founding members of the UK's Committee on Climate Change, Professor Skea provides independent advice to the Government on how the UK can achieve its greenhouse gas emissions targets. He is also Research Director of the UK Energy Research Centre and has been involved in the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the leading international body for the assessment of climate change. We hope you can join us for what should be a stimulating and informative evening. This event is free (suugested donation of £2.50 to cover costs), but places are limited.
